Of all the things I did not expect, it was to see so many different animals. Is it my zoo experience? Is is the literally thousands of hours I spend and spent outdoors watching? Is it that I am watching?
The Chihuahuan desert, like most deserts, holds a lot more life than you would expect. They are more spread out and they range further, though that still means you stand a good chance of seeing one of the natural animals in Big Bend or it's nearby environs (this is in Terlingua).
This guy was being spooked by a pair of Javelina that were wanting to get what he was wanting to get. He ate a fair amount before he ran off. No sooner than he left, the Javelina took over.
