A pair of Northern Shovelers, male and female, peacefully make their way along the shore line. At the time this photo was taken, a couple weeks ago, open water was scarce and much of the waterfowl was packed into open pockets or driven to open agriculture fields to feed on waste grain. Spring migration is going strong here now on the prairies of the Dakotas, where this photo was taken, and most of the waterfowl has moved on.
