It was a friendly group shoot with 4 photographers, and 3 gorgeous Redheads who had never modelled before. We were trying out on and off camera flash, and taking shots in and outside. It was a lovely learning experience for all of us.Time
Late afternoon. It was the end of a long shoot with mostly long and group shots and I just noticed Neve standing there waiting; I asked her to look directly at me, and her eyes blew me away!Lighting
The light was a bit dull, but it was good as I wanted her to look cold, aloof and unattainable, and have her eyes draw you in and mesmerise you.Equipment
My first DSLR Camera a Canon EOS 550d hand held, aperture f3.5 shutter 1/100 iso 100 lens Canon 100mm Macro Built in flash.Inspiration
The light on her hair and eyes, just begged for a close up.Editing
It was my first time using flash, so I did some minor colour tweaks in LR to correct some wash out from the flash. And I dropped the highlights for the same reason. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 100mm Macro. It is pin sharp and great for macro, portraits and landscapes. It’s hard to take a bad photo with that lens!Feedback
The direct flash partially creates the cold, surreal feel of this pic. Don’t be afraid to get really close and focus on a particular feature of someone’s face.
