Behind The Lens

Location

I was driving in north Denver after a light snow. I came across this field that had a 6' cyclone fence and razor wire on the top of it. The only thing that I noticed in the field was this tree all by itself. So I climbed onto the roof of my Jeep and captured this imprisoned lonely tree.

Time

This was around 11am, just before lunch.

Lighting

It was really a tough to get because the day was overcast and gloomy with really low clouds. I almost didn't take this shot.

Equipment

I shot this on my Nikon D7000 at f/8 - 65mm - 1/400sec - ISO 100

Inspiration

The fact that this tree was pretty much the only thing in this field, yet surrounded by barbed wire fence.

Editing

Not really, That is pretty much how I shot it.

In my camera bag

I currently use the Nikon D850. Depending on what I am shooting I may have on my Nikon 24x70mm, Nikon 28x300mm, Nikon 105mm micro, or my new favorite Irix 15mm.

Feedback

I do some crazy things to get my shot. I have laid in the middle of the road (with traffic), I have climbed on top of garbage cans, ladders, and for this one I climbed on top of my jeep in a residential neighborhood. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there to get the shot that you want. It is so worth it!! Plus you have a story to tell :)
