This mission is one of the oldest working missions in the country. Built after the great flood that changed the course of the Rio Grande and moved the borders of Texas and Mexico, it is located just outside El Paso Texas. Originally, before the great flood of 1829, this mission land was in Mexico. Due the course change of the great river, the United States declared the land as part of Texas and the middle of the Rio Grande became the border between the United States and Mexico.
