As we drove into Estes Park, Colorado I noticed several statues of a grazing elk on landscaped traffic island. I was focusing my attention on the slow-moving traffic when I became aware that the bull elk was moving. I realized that the elk were real. They were the reason the traffic was crawling along. Once in a safe parking spot, I had no problem finding a good location from which to shoot. While a novelty for tourists, to the resident of Estes Park the elk are an ever-present aggravation.
