Location
This photo was taken at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, USA. Natalie, the model, and I were transitioning from one part of the fort down some stone steps. Natalie sat down and looked up at me and I saw the play of light through her sun hat and took a series of shots.Time
We were at the Fort at about 3pm with summer afternoon light.Lighting
The filtered light, through her sun hat was a surprise I hadn’t even thought about until I turned and saw it! A beautiful and lucky surprise indeed!Equipment
My camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T5i with the 18-55 lens. I had no special equipment with me, just my camera.Inspiration
Natalie was my inspiration. She is a beautiful young woman. I wanted to capture her luminous green eyes and those lashes! When I saw the sun dappling on her cheek around her eye, I was mesmerized! Funny though, she doesn’t like this photo! ????Editing
No post processing at all, this is straight out of the camera! In my camera bag
I usually take just my camera and 18-55 lens and my Tamron 75-300 just in case. Extra battery, charger and some lens filters.Feedback
Most often, I plan for light and I see something in my mind I want to capture, but my best shots have been those that are unplanned. Seeing what nature gives you moment to moment that frames or enhances my subjects is such a wonderful gift. That is what this photo turned out to be, a gift!!
