The photo was taken on the route from Hoffn, Iceland back to Rejkavik, Iceland.Time
This is probably one of my favorite images from my time in Iceland. On the way back to Rejkavik we stopped off around 10am here to hike around and take photos. I loved the way the sunlight hit the side of the snow covered mountain.Lighting
There was only about 6hrs of daylight or sunlight in the winter of Iceland. Every chance to shoot had to be taken with that in mind. Getting the correct lighting for me is always a struggle, but when it comes to natural lighting I've done a lot better since I've started. Taking inspiring images on the angle perpendicular to the way the light hits the object. I also play around a lot with different angles. There's always a new perspective.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon Rebel T2i with a 24mm lens, no filter and no flash. I rarely use tripods as of late. I want to get into using tripods more often.Inspiration
Honestly, Prince Ea's video "Everybody Dies, but not Everybody Lives" inspired me to take images like this one. In it he states "there is no such thing as a smooth mountain" and "you can choose which pain to live through, the pain on the path to success or the pain on the path to regret." I love nature, landscapes, wildlife, I want to be the best I can at everything I do. Seeing these snow covered mountains just reminds me I have a lot to learn, and a lot more to give back.Editing
I do a lot of post processing with my landscape photography. Not all the time but most of the time, and generally with lightroom. I darkened the sky, sharpened the image, tried to bring out more blue and sunlight color on the bottom. In my camera bag
Well, I carry 2 bodies, a T2i and my original camera the EOS Rebel. I have several lenses I take with me, a 24mm, a 50mm, a 75-300mm, and the 18-75mm lens. I have polarizing filters, and lens ball accessories as well as my GoPro. I don't take my external flash with me yet. I'd like to think I'm always prepared.Feedback
Know your environment, be patient with yourself and the environment as well, and just keep shooting. Post processing isn't always necessary. Being patient with yourself and your equipment will allow you to take much better images. Remember, it's the eye that captures the images you want. The technical details will come later.
