I took this photo in my hometown, Bunbury, Western Australia. I was having coffee by the bay when I noticed a solo dolphin at play.Time
This was in the early afternoon.Lighting
There water was very reflective and the sun was shining.Equipment
I wasn’t going out to take photos, sometimes the opportunity just arises so I used the only thing I had on me at the time, my phone!Inspiration
I was watching the dolphins playing in the bay and he was almost playing peek-a-boo with me. I sat on the jetty and he kept popping up near me so I grabbed my camera and began to shoot.Editing
I needed to correct the colour and lighting balance of this photo as it was only taken on my phone camera and I had to take the photo swiftly as my new friend was popping in and out of the water quite fast.In my camera bag
Typically when taking photos I bring my Cannon powershot large lenses camera. The zoom is amazing giving me the opportunity to capture things others might not even notice! And also something to clean my camera because I tend to be outdoors and in nature and things can get messy!Feedback
Patience! For me, I take joy in the creation of the photo and it often takes a bit of time to sit and wait and adjust for that right moment. Enjoy yourself and don’t be afraid to take opportunities when they arise even if you are ill prepared without your usual equipment and camera.
