One of the most frustrating, and therefore potentially rewarding, aspects of landscape photography is dragging yourself out of bed before the dawn, driving and-or walking an untold distance in the hopes of a spectacular sunrise that will fulfill the 'vision' that you had for a certain location. And often, it isn't to be. Either the lack of clouds, or the overabundance of the wrong types of clouds, and sunrise never really happens. It just goes from being dark, to being not quite as dark, with very little drama in between. That was the case here, on the banks of the Llano River, within the town of the same name. I had the composition, the flowing water, the leading lines, but not quite the color that I had hoped for.
