The Choctawhatchee River is 141 miles long and flows through southeast Alabama and the Panhandle of Florida before emptying into Choctawhatchee Bay in Florida's Okaloosa and Walton counties. The river, the bay and their adjacent watersheds collectively drain 5,350 square miles. This part of it flows under Hwy 90 over the Choctawhatchee River on the Florida Panhandle.
