I always enjoy this image when I view it as it brings back memories of a most enjoyable holiday in the New Forest area. This image was taken on the 'New Forest golf course' near Lyndhurst Hampshire England. It was 05:30 am and chilly with some mist about. I took an enjoyable and peaceful walk along the course before setting up with my tripod and filters to take this image which was one of many.Time
This was an early day shot 05:30 am, I set out deliberately early to get the sunrise, this time of day is wonderful it is peaceful and there is a good chance of mist.Lighting
I wanted a backlit shot and the pony grazing calmly was perfect with the trees as a backdrop. The sun was quite bright so I put a Lee ten-stop filter onto my lens.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 on a tripod with my walkabout lens a Nikon 28-300 f5.6 lens. Fitted to this I had a Lee filters holder with a ten stop filter as I recallInspiration
I like to get out in the early morning and see what I can find, it is the best time of day for photography. No matter where you are city or country there will always be something.Editing
There is very little post-processing of this image, it was taken in Raw and I put it through Adobe camera raw with minor changes. In my camera bag
I generally carry my Nikon D750 with the 28-300 mm lens Lee filters 3 stop 6 stop and 10 stop plus a polarising filter. Lens cloth and remote trigger. sigma Macro lens and sometimes a sigma 10-20 wide-angle lens.Feedback
my advice is to research the area you are visiting by using google. I also use photopills for planning things like the position of the sun and sun up / down times. Make the effort to get up early, sometimes hard to do but always worthwhile.
