This photo was taken in a well known garden center in Oregon.Time
There were so many plants, trees, flowers and views in this garden center; however, this parting of the lilly pads to see the beautiful lotus bloom a second time is what caught my eye. I love reflections and this one gave me a peek that afternoon.Lighting
The natural light of the sun and the softening of the trees gave this bloom a spotlight.Equipment

This beautiful lotus and its lovely reflection in the water is what inspired me. That and the saying "No mud, no flower".Editing
In post-processing I used Lightroom for cropping and adjusting exposure.In my camera bag

My advice for others trying to capture something similar is to go with whatever it is that catches your eye or your attention and work from there. Try different angles and locations around your subject for finding the shadows and lighting that you are after. Lighting is what captures the emotion for me - whether it is soft and subtle or dark and shadowed - it can change the mood of your shot.
