Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my very own prairie garden created one year before this picture. The garden consists of plants known to thrive in the Midwest and these plants also provide nourishment for butterflies and bees. You know the saying "save the bees, save the world". The flowers are beautiful and this milkweed flower smells so sweet and amazing. Attracting the bees and the butterflies is a gift.

Time

I really can't remember what time of day but I am pretty sure it was close to the 'golden hour' in the morning or the evening.

Lighting

I love nature and so I love natural light. This is where I am most comfortable.

Equipment

Canon 80D

Inspiration

My love for nature inspired me to take this photo. The old saying from Field of Dreams "build it and they will come". I planted a prairie garden and the butterflies and bees came. There are beautiful and amazing things in your own backyard!

Editing

This photo was edited in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Besides my camera, there is a telephoto lens, macro lens, and a wide angle lens. Then the usual - extra charged batteries, cleaning essentials, camera manual, rain cover, and sunscreen.

Feedback

My advice would be to try different angles and photograph what you love, draws your attention, brings you joy, and makes you curious. Taking pictures of nature allows me to enlarge them and see and learn things about the creature that I don't always catch with my eyes.
