5 december is the dutch version of Christmas. Saint Nicolaas (sinterklaas) arrives on a boat with his helpers from Spain. Legend claims that he was the Bischop of Myra, exciled for the way he believed in the bible (in the 3d century). He moved to Spain where he rescued black slave kids by offering them shelter, freedom, food and work. A beautiful tradition meant for children but under heavy discussion these days.
