Beautiful mantids shown here with the, powerful and brightly colored fore-arms stretched out. Also visible is the characteristic black patch on the inside of the fore-arms. Can grow quite big (up to about 80mm), are ferocious and will fight back when disturbed persistently. This one was about 45mm in body length. Photographed in George, South Africa.
