Behind The Lens

Location

I was visiting NYC. This photo was taken in Brooklyn. On Washington Street, I think, and of Manhattan bridge.

Time

This photo was taken in late afternoon.

Lighting

I went back on foot several times to study where the sun would be, the crowds and traffic on the street. This capture was preferred because the Empire State building is bright.

Equipment

It was a hand held capture. But there were other photographers there with tripods.

Inspiration

It was a scene that looked great and I worried my capture would miss the details of the stone buildings and modern cars, and of course, details of the bridge.

Editing

The capture was posted as is.

In my camera bag

In my bag, I had my Sony Alpha200 with spare battery, spare CF card, and a cleaning cloth.

Feedback

Take the shot a couple of times at different times and realize what the sun does... How the traffic and foot levels calm. I went back twice. On different days and different times. I have evening shots where the street was empty of cars but littered with local photo club photographers.
