Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my neighbourhood, in East Sussex, UK I was literally strolling with my then-newly acquired D-SLR and took a few test shots, to "learn" the camera - this is one of those shots Seems the camera can do 'bokeh' quite nicely!

Time

Would have been taken on a Saturday morning - if I remember correctly, it would have been springtime when this was taken

Lighting

This was taken in natural sunlight, approximately 10:00 AM, I think

Equipment

The camera is a Pentax K10-D, with the kit lens - 18-55mm, I believe No other equipment used

Inspiration

This was quite literally a random, unplanned picture: at the time, a good opportunity to test the 'bokeh' of a new-to-me camera As soon as I saw the result, I suspected this was something a little more than "a random, unplanned picture" - it's a picture I'm very pleased with!

Editing

Maybe a little cropping to frame correctly, but nothing further I try not to use any post-processing, unless it's essential to get a particular 'look' - an example of this being a vintage picture postcard-style landscape, where you'll maybe want to tilt the colours a little to simulate those 'old times' film shots

In my camera bag

My camera bag is not huge: I carry the camera body (Pentax K10-D) and the lenses I have - so far, just two: the DA 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 AL, which I used for this shot and a DA 55-300 f/4-5.8 ED I'll maybe add a 50mm prime lens and a macro lens at some future point, but for now, I only have the two to choose from I always have the charger, a spare battery & the associated cables to hand, too, but that's about it - don't want to get bogged down!

Feedback

Hmmmm - good question! Well, to be honest, this was just one of a series of test shots I took with what was at the time a new-to-me camera Not the first time I'd used a camera - far from it - but early days with this one, for sure In my mind, I'd taken this shot (or similar) several times previously, with different equipment, getting different results of course, so I suppose you could say this shot is the result of several practice runs, or rehearsals, if you'd like For me, every shot is an opportunity to learn and to add to the photographic experiences I've had Advice? Get out there & shoot!
