Behind The Lens

Location

We took this in the abandoned boxing ring "Blue Horizon" in Philadelphia which is featured in Rocky V.

Time

This was taken midday but as it was shot indoors the outside lighting did little light the ring.

Lighting

With a little natural light from outside, the ring was lit up by the buildings ring lights.

Equipment

At the time I was shooting on a canon rebel t6 and a 15-55mm. I was shooting handheld because I was running around doing different shots.

Inspiration

My friends heard about this awesome opportunity to get into this abandoned boxing ring and after buying off the guard and climbing our way through multiple barricades we made it to the ring and only had 30 minutes to shoot. The fast-paced environment of us running our trying out different shots and poses really lead to a fun opportunity to just trying out different things.

Editing

Lots of editing! I played around with some presets in Lightroom until I got a base of colors and then played around with the noise reduction and clarity to get a comic book effect. Then I moved into photoshop to play with the colors a bit more, a little dodge and burn, and then added some glow.

In my camera bag

Nowadays I am shooting on a canon 6d Mk ii, primarily with a 50mm 1.8 and a 24-105mm. When shooting portraits I tend to bring some lights, prisms, and sparklers.

Feedback

Just have fun and try out a style you normally wouldnt!
