Location
I think it was on Highway 32 between Lebanon, MO and Buffalo, MO. My husband and I were out for a ride and I had taken a photo of the Lebanon water tower just before heading home on Hwy 32 and I got this photo of the fire tower.Time
I'm thankful for digital technology. My computer system lets me access all kinds of details about a photo. This one was taken at 4:32 pm CDTLighting
Nothing set up or planned. Just the natural sidelight from the sun and wispy clouds for a backdrop. It puts the fire tower almost in silhouette.Equipment
Canon Power Shot SX20 ISInspiration
I love fire towers. They seem like so romantic an image, especially now days when their use has fallen by the wayside in favor of airplanes and other modern technology. When I saw this one so close to the road, I had to get a shot of it.Editing
Sometimes I edit a photo to change the exposure or up the contrast, but this one is completely natural. In my camera bag
Just my camera. Sometimes I bring along a tripod. I shoot a lot "on the fly" so to speak so I can't take a lot of equipment with me. My camera has a built-in zoom so I can get close-up without too much effort--no need to carry extra lenses.Feedback
Be aware of the possibilities you see every day and always take your camera with you. You never know when you will have the opportunity to get a winning shot from an unexpected place. Take more than one picture. . . a bump, a breath, a sudden change of lighting outdoors may influence your results. If you are shooting from a moving vehicle, keep your camera on a fast shutter speed. (I use Sports mode on my Canon SX20 IS to stop action and give me a continuous shooting opportunity).
