Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Foxton Beach in the Manawatu, New Zealand on a windy day in Summer.

Time

It was early evening just before Sunset on a clear Summer's day.

Lighting

The lighting was still very good as the sun was hanging in a clear sky.

Equipment

I use my Canon SX60 with a monopod for stability and took the photo from above Max.

Inspiration

It was actually a very sad day as it was the last night on the beach for Max with his big Labrador brother Sultan who was leaving the earth the next day. The two dogs had a lovely time together and when Max posed in front of me it was a reminder that he would soon be by himself and he was looking up at me for some understanding.

Editing

No post-processing - the photo is as it was taken.

In my camera bag

I normally carry two cameras and spare batteries because I do not like to miss a shot when I see it. Running out of batteries in the past have meant I missed some fabulous opportunities. I also carry a monopod, generally attached to one of the cameras. I like to be ready when the shot presents itself.

Feedback

These moments in life are very special and magic. Always be ready to capture them.
