Location
This photo was taken at a zoo in Valencia.Time
I reckon it was about noon.Lighting
It was a nice sunny day, slightly overcast. "With the sun being behind me when I took the shot it really helped in enhancing the colours of this bird and of course, more importantly his eyes turned to gold!Equipment
I have my Nikon D5200, 18mm-250mm Sigma Lens, cleaning cloths etc., tripod and camera back-pack.Inspiration
I was amazed at the intensity of the owl's eyes and wanted to try to highlight these when taking the photo.Editing
I didn't do much post-processing to this photo, just the basic saturation, exposure tweak and if I remember rightly some dramatic contract (ON1).In my camera bag
Other than my camera of course, I usually take two lenses, spare batteries, cleaning equipment, tripod, remote timer and sometimes a flashlight.Feedback
When trying to capture an image like this, or in my opinion. a close-up of any living thing, it is important that the image is sharp, especially around the eye area and that the colours are well saturated to make your photo really "POP".
