Hagerman National Wildlife refuge is a great place to go for birds and other wildlife, but when it comes to landscapes, it's a real challenge. Lacking in much in the way of compelling foregrounds, the brush and marshy edges of the ponds and along the lake don't have a lot to work with. So one has to occasionally throw rules like that '3rds' thing out the window when the sky erupts in color and the winds die down to allow for near perfect reflections across the water.
