I took this photo while hiking in the San gorgonial mountains of Southern California with my friend who as well loves the art of photography, we had initially passed It and it wasn’t much to see but on our way back it had start to snow and the scene looked magicalTime
When initials passing the frozen pond the scene wasn’t set yet, the sun was too far to the east and created an awkward lighting situation however when we had gone back the clouds and just come over and it was noon so the lighting problem was fixed and it had started to snow which gave the final push to set the tone and mood for the creation of the photoLighting
The lighting of this photo was very important (as it is for the majority of photos).the lighting was at first awkward with the sun fully unveiled by the clouds and at an unfavorable angle from the east the scene was overloaded with light making the exposure very high and negates any color from the forest however when we came back at noon and the sun was glazed by clouds the light was much more evenly spread and actually enhanced the colors from the foliageEquipment
No special equipment was used to make this I had not year had a dslr camera and used my iPhone 7plusInspiration
I e always liked to be in nature and being in California we don’t get much of a winter so I wanted to find somewhere I could wander around and take pictures in the fresh snow. Ultimately finding this frozen pond along a hiking pathEditing
I actually did very little to this photo after taking it I simply increased the back point and toned down the exposure some and ended up with this beautiful pice if artIn my camera bag
When I took this photo I didn’t have any expensive camera but more recently I got a Nikon d3400 and carry a 15-55 mm lens and a 75-300 mm lens plus some extra batteries (it’s important that your camera resent die Hal way through the day)Feedback
When taking a picture in the snow it’s important to remember the basics behind lighting ( you don’t need any class for this I taught myself how to take photos and comprise them) aswell it is very important to find the right setting and take many photos from fdiffrebt angle because unless you have a camera that allows you to make specific changes in the settings no two photos will come out the same
