We support several cardinal families in our yard. Pretty soon the babies will appear and Daddy has the primary responsibility for training them.

Poor thing's eating in the rain so has water droplets on him. The bokeh is a sego palm behind the feeder. I'm shooting at a relatively shallow DOF at 400mm so the bokeh comes naturally.

Also called the redbird, cardinals are prevalent throughout the United States. The male is a bright red, the female just as beautiful but more dun-colored for camouflage in the nest.

In the family Cardinalidae, cardinals are passerine birds found in North and South America. They are robust, seed-eating birds with strong bills.
