This accipiter, which I believe is a Sharp-shinned Hawk, had taken a Eurasian Collared Dove that seemed to be larger than itself. Accipiters have short wings and long tails, adaptations that allow them to hunt birds in trees. Every now and then one appears at my feeders, usually as a streak followed by a puff of feathers as it grabs one of small birds from my yard. This hawk had killed the dove in someone else's yard. I saw it as I was driving by. I went home, grabbed my camera went back. This image was the best.
