On one trip through Kentucky, we decided to try the backside of Mammoth Cave National Park, instead of the cavern proper.
The day was quite warm and the more I looked aside the path, the more there was to discover...then this....like a tiny stone palace in the middle of the forest....
Revelation 1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys to death and Hades.
The most profound declaration in time and space is the state of the existence of man. You, me, every single person on earth, the most basic of words, the deepest concept of life. It recognizes several things among which is the state of life of man in the image of God. But deeper yet, those two words in English are the translation of God breathing life into the lungs and heart of mankind for the last nearly 7000 years!
Every time a person thinks or raises his lips to self-identify, without thought to origin or consequence, that person gives glory to the Creator of all life. From Muslim to Mormon, Christian to Cantheism, you cannot utter your self-existence without unconsciously pointing to the One who first sent spirit into your body. BREATHE child!
I AM is God's existence before time, before the alleged Big Bang, before the flash of light, I AM.
Without I AM, I, Wayne Cook do not exist. The order of my thoughts this morning is a reflection of the immense power it took for God to stuff the soaring spirit of each child into the tiny body which came squawling into the world, delighting the two loving people who stand in the dark of a delivery room. Mom lies exhausted, Daddy worries. But the child is born and God says, "I AM". It is up to every one of us to recognize our part in His plan and choose His life or our pretense.
Our secular and evil culture wishes in every way to diminish the presence of God in our lives, our cavalier culture, our world. But we must as Christians, go back to the Bible and get away from the erosion the world would flood our lives so that we live in Christ, not the cosmos.
Lord, cause us to seek I AM and recognize our need to bow before you!
