Location
I took this photo while traveling in the Mudumu National Park in the North Eastern side of Namibia, called the Zambezi Region, it was previously called the Caprivi region. There are a few hides on the banks of the Kwando river.Time
I took this photo just before 5 o'clock in the afternoon. We were having a relaxed sundowner after a very eventful day in the Mudumu park.Lighting
This is all nature light, I do prefer natural light, I will rather move around and get better light on an object, especially in nature, than using a Flash. I do use a ring-flash for Macro photography.Equipment
I used my Nikon D750 with a Tampon 70-200mm Lens, I did not have my tripod, but allows the camera to rest on the base of the hide-outInspiration
We were all sitting and just taking a breather after a day in the park, it was quiet, relaxed and the mood was so peaceful, the sun and colours were right at the right moment, and I took the opportunity. That was the moment I took the shot, but as from 16:30 I watched how the colours changed in the clouds, the tree and the water, and I knew I would have "The perfect" moment, I should wait and I should be ready.Editing
I did not do much post processing, I pushed up the Clarity and upped the contrast. I also down scaled the Exposure a bit. I also changed the S curve to a very slight "S" and added a tiny amount of Vignette. I had to check and re-check I dod not crop the photo at all it is straight from the Camera. In my camera bag
I have a a Lower BP 450 bag that has all my equipment. When I travel (in my car or on the boat on the river) I have the D750 with the Tamron 24-70 Connected, Manual Mode, with Auto ISO for Landscape shots. My Tamron 70-200 is connected to my D500, set to Shutter Priority, with Auto ISO. I have a Sigma 150 - 600 for wildlife and bird photography. For the smaller animals I have a Nikon 105mm Macro lens and Sigma Ring Flash. I have a lens pen, money and a nifty 50 as well, but rarely use it. There is also a large plastic bag to cover my equipment should it start to rain.Feedback
Photography to me is always about timing (https://www.facebook.com/andredejager.photography) for this shot I waited maybe an 30 minutes to an hour. Be aware of your surroundings, and see how the light is changing. Water is almost always your friend, as there are usually some activities going on. Be patient, and try to get two or three shots, just to make sure
