Location
I live on a nature estate just outside Windhoek, Namibia. The estate has access to an adjacent farm without any fences between us and the farm. This area is nick named Serengeti, we also have a Mountain bike trail passing here as well.Time
The photo was taken round about 9:00 in the morning in October. During the previous few days while riding my Mountainbike in the area I saw these herds almost every day, i woke up a it earlier and started heading in their way with the mountainbike, as the mountainbike scare them less than a car wouldLighting
As I knew there will be movement I waited for a bit more light and not during the golden hours of the day. What made this great, was that the herds were facing in a southerly direction so I could get some of the early morning sun to give me a better lighting opportunityEquipment
I shot this with a Nikon D7200 and the Nikon 18-300 LensInspiration
I ride my Mountainbike here often, and it always amaze me how the wildebeest run Riot, while the Sebra just stand and watch, until they also start to run. It remids me of life some people are just more busy than others, and yet we all get done what is needed to get done.Editing
Yes, I still use Lightroom CC, no other tools. In my camera bag
I operate now with a D750, D500 as well as my Tamrons 24-70, 70-200. For birding I use a Sigma 150-600 lens and for Macro work I use a Nikon 105 With a Sigma Ring Flash. When I travel / drive the D750 is paired with the 24-70 for Landscape opportunities, Aperture mode, Auto ISO. My D500 is paired with the 70-200 Shutter priority and Auto ISO. These tow give me 24-7- and about 135 to 300 for range.Feedback
Patience, wake up early, plan your shot, have an idea on how animals move. In Essence be ready when the shot presents itself. With Wildlife you cannot tell them how and where to move.
