This photo was taken in Yala National park in Sri Lanka. To tall the truth I headed the park to take pictures of leopards the park is famous of but, unfortunately, there was no luck: I saw spotted dear, peacocks, crocodiles, buffulo, but no leopards. No one. Still, the other inhabitants of the Park rewarded my passion for photography. And this painted stork among them.Time
It was about 4 p. m. when I met this gorgeous bird fishing in the middle of one of the shallow lakes on my way.Lighting
I can't say that I was waiting for some special lighting for this picture: I wanted to see as many birds and animals the park is rich of so I couldn't wait for better lighting or the water to stop curlingEquipment
I used Sony SLT-A58 with DT 18-135 mm f/ 3.5-5.6 SAMInspiration
This stork was so beautiful, its movements so cautious that I zoomed up and looked at it breathless. I almost forgot to press the knob. Eventually the bird stood motionless and I made several shots...Editing

Besides DT 18-135 mm f/ 3.5-5.6 SAM I also have Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T*85mm f/1.4 ZAFeedback
To take photos of birds and animals a photographer has to be patient and stand motionless for some time to get as near to the object as possible. Sometimes it's a good thing to have a guide who knows the places where one can meet them. And one has to have some luck
