El Malpais National Monument in western New Mexico (USA), is a magical pace both above and below ground. While walking back across an ancient lava flow where I had just viewed thousands of bats emerging from a lava tube, I was lucky enough to catch this sunset. I was in front of the group I was with and made sure they all stopped as the vacant path leading into the clouds and color was hard to resist.
