Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo while visiting the Ananda Temple in Bagan, Myanmar in 2017. It was build in 1105 AD and many say it is the most beautiful preserved temple in Bagan.

Time

It was around 10:00 in the morning. The temperature hadn‘t quite reached its pinnacle yet and inside the temple it was pleasantly cool compared to outside.

Lighting

The lighting in this particular alcove was just right at this time of day and created a breathtaking atmosphere.

Equipment

I actually used a common digital camera for less than 100 €. I just started to get a taste for photography.

Inspiration

It was such a serene place, seemingly removed from time and space, and I just wanted to caption a fraction of that feeling and atmosphere and take it back with me.

Editing

I enhanced the contrasts and deepened the colours as the camera couldn‘t capture the reality of it.

In my camera bag

These days I‘ve got my Sony Alpha 6000 with my standard and 55-210mm lenses. Apart from that I‘ve got an UV-Filter.I generally prefer to travel light.

Feedback

You should be prepared to get into some awkward poses and sit down in some bat excrements. So you better got some sanitary tissues at hand. Jokes aside, it helped that I immediately knew what I wanted that picture to look like and just kept adjusting everything I could until I got as close as possible to the picture in my imagination.
