Location
This photo was taken at Ted's home. His Dad trains horses, so Ted gets to hang out and watch the activity. He pretty much gets to plan his day. Run, jump into the water trough when he gets hot, rest. He knows how to relax!Time
The time was late morning with the sun above the roof of the facility.Lighting
As the sun was not shining into the area, the lighting was flat.Equipment
EOS Canon 70D, 80-200mm zoom at 87 mm focal length; 1/60s, f/10, ISO 400Inspiration
Ted just loves people and cannot get enough attention. The position of his legs as he was resting made for a great portrait!Editing
Because the light was somewhat flat and the photo had little color, choosing black and white in post processing was the look I wanted to achieve. In my camera bag
I do not have a lot of equipment: Canon EOS 70D, 18-135mm zoom, 55-250mm zoom.Feedback
I had noticed he like laying like that, so I had to be patient for Ted to take this position. Because I wanted to be on his eye level, I had to work quickly as he would jump up and come to me for some attention. He thought it was so much fun that I was groveling in the dirt with him! I would have liked a little better focus on his eyes, but am still happy with Ted's portrait.
