These spider lilies had been uprooted from another place by heavy machinery clearing a lot for my mother's house over 50 years ago house. The bulbs somehow scattered throughout the new yard and they pop up as individual flowers here and there all over the lawn in late summer. They hold special significance for me because my mother died a few months after I took this picture. I hope the people who bought her house enjoy the spider lilies every Fall.

The spider lily is the common name for a number of different plant species within the family Amaryllidaceae
