Behind The Lens

Location

So i took this photo on my way into work one day at a business park i worked for in South Jordan, Utah. I noticed this flower just after the sprinklers had turned off and it had caught my eye. I look at it through my phone and so then i zoomed in to get a good look at the dew on the pedals and it was stunning so i snapped the shot.

Time

This shot was at 6:50 Am as i was walking into work that day.

Lighting

So the sun was rising from the east over the Wasatch mountain range. As the sun was peaking over the summits of the mountains some of the rays hit this flower which lit it up just right to make this picture look great.

Equipment

Since i was just heading into work all i had was my IPhone 8. I zoomed in on the flower to get the shot i wanted and snapped the picture.

Inspiration

I think what really inspired me was the way the morning sun was illuminating the dew on the pedals. It was casting a a very cool look and giving into the grays and white tones along with making the yellow pop. It was just beautiful and i couldn't pass that up. I had to get a shot of it.

Editing

So i had to do just a little to it. I adjusted the color a little to get the yellow to pop a bit better. Other than that its pretty raw.

In my camera bag

At this time in my life i was just starting out at taking photos. So all i had at the time was an Iphone. Today I use a small frame Panasonic g7 with several lenses.

Feedback

I think that you never know when you are going to come across a great opportunity to take a picture of a lifetime. So try to always be prepared so you don't miss it. I got to know my phone pretty well so i could make adjustments on the fly and still get a good picture. Try not to be in a hurry and take as many as you can while the lighting is still good. The picture changes as the lighting changes so make sure you get enough to review and get the one you are looking for.
