This photo of Mt McKinley was taken during a guided tour in Denali National Park, Alaska. This was during first week of September 2017Time
We arrived before sunrise at Reflection Pond with hopes of catching this lighting and reflections of Mt McKinley.Lighting
This was a perfect morning and great timing with various cloud formations which complemented the overall lighting during sunrise.Equipment
Nikon D750 FX body, Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm F4 lens, Induro tripod, Induro ball headInspiration
I greatly enjoy wildlife and scenic photography. My wife and I scheduled this trip to Alaska and were fortunate to meet Ralph Lee Hopkins (National Geographic Photographer) at Camp Denali. We participated in a 3 day photography workshop with Ralph which provided us exclusive access to various locations in the park for prime time access to wildlife and scenic photography. What a wonderful and unforgettable experience. I am pleased to share my photos and this experience with the world. Thank you.Editing
Yes, minor post processing was applied for noise removal and minimal saturation to enhance the sunrise colors. In my camera bag
I am currently a Nikon equipped photographer. My bag included Nikon D750 body, Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm 5.6 lens, Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm F4 lens, Nikkor AF-S 24-120mm F4lens, 1.4x teleconverter, Nikon Coolpix W300, SB-700 Speed Light. I am hoping to upgrade to the Nikon D850.Feedback
I would recommend taking many pictures with various settings. I changed my F stop and exposure compensation on over 30 frames in effort to capture a variety of lighting and depth. This image was taken with F22, ISO 100 at 4 sec, -0.33 exposer compensation. Shoot in RAW format so you can capture the most detail out of the image. RAW will also allow for better post processing when necessary. Thank you for your support!
