Haggai 2:6-7 6 “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD Almighty.

They were called the passing mountains. It's difficult to envision such a work, a pair of peaks in the Andes which could pass by one another in the horrible sensation of an earthquake, but they did just that. On one trip through the passes of the snow capped peaks, our truck stopped and one of the teens with me, showed me the two tips in the hazy distance. They weren't alongside each other, but in the distance between them the tops of both seemed just inches apart.

Something of a world wonder, though they stood rigid in the norm, when the earthquakes tore apart the range of dirt and rock of South America, Peru's mountains would to the naked eye, wander in the scope of things unmoveable and confound the senses.

I was just fourteen when I first heard the story from a fellow classmate. At first I did not believe him, nor the actual event. Now, fifty plus years past the story, I can find nothing of the legend, though it was retold many times during my youth. But Peru is a land of such contrasts, though this was one I never, fortunately, saw happen.

God's shaking of the nations won't be a legend, but His method of garnering glory is unquestionably riveting! Imagine the power of an earthquake and the utter helplessness of man against rocks the size of homes thrown from a hillside! Crushing conifers in their paths, they tumble thundering down a slope, until the rolling tons come to rest in some valley! A spiritual Being who can do such things, or create the setup for the earth to move plates thousands of miles in broken length, commands the trembling attention of every man and woman on this ball we call earth!

It's coming! Are we prepared?

Lord Jesus, this day, give us eyes to see your work, ears to sense your words, and lives to show what Your labor in us is to be. Help us to live the moments with expactation and faith!
