Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at my holiday house next to the beach, sitting on a piece of wood

Time

Was early in the morning, cloudy and very wet. Was also somewhat windy so the flowers kept moving. I liked the battle.

Lighting

The place was under the trees with quite low light, so I tried some different options of white balance and finally using an ISO of 1600

Equipment

This time I was using my 7D MkII with a 70-300 lens, tried with and without flash. The better option was without flash. I shot handheld.

Inspiration

I like very much this kind of flowers because their texture and details. I decided to try to get all details as natural as possible and finally got it.

Editing

The only post processing was to apply a little of sharpness and a little of noise reduction. Applied also a little of vivacity, very little

In my camera bag

Normally I carry my Canon T3i with a 18-135 lens for general use, together with the 7D MkII mounting my new 70-300 II lens, a great fast and sharp lens which I use mainly for shooting birds

Feedback

I believe that the lack of sun and the condition of a very wet morning helped to get good flower shots. As always, a lot of patience and trying a lot of shots with different angles and settings is a necessary condition to get good results, even if you don´t have an expensive camera.
