Location
This photo was taken outside of my apartment, in San Antonio, Texas.Time
This photo was taken as a random, improvised shot. I am a self taught photographer, so every shot is exciting and also a new challenge for me. It was about 3am, and I was walking in to work with my camera on me. I remember looking up, and thinking how cool that looked! The moon was nestled perfectly above the clouds, and I was speechless. This photo was taken on September 30th, 2017 around 3:15am.Lighting
I wanted this photo to express the tranquility and purity of morning. It was relatively dark where I was, amp not too much light pollution. I had no tripod or other equipment with me, so I had to act relatively fast before the clouds or moon moved from the shot.Equipment
This was a shot on a Nikon D3400 using a Tamron 70-300mm 3.4-5.6 lens.Inspiration
I try my best to be sporadic and challenge myself, but this photo found me. It was a pure chance that I looked up at the moon, but when I did I was greeted with a very big, bright moon nestled directly about the clouds. My mind lit up, and I instinctively reached for my camera hoping to capture the pure beauty in which nature was showing me.Editing
I did very little post-processing. I lightened up the shot, and enhanced the moon to make it more visible and appealing to the eye.In my camera bag
I am relatively new, so I do not have a giant collection yet. My go to lens in my “Nifty Fifty”. It’s a Nikon Nikita 50mm 1.8. Nothing too fancy, but for a cheaper prime it’s very crisp and precise. I also have a Nikon Nikkor 35mm 1.8, and a Tamron 70-300.Feedback
My advice; always be prepared. I found that if you’re always looking and trying t think outside of the box, there is an amazing picture there, just waiting for you. In my case, it was pure luck! Hopefully, I can be lucky again with a picture that came out like this one.
