These flowers are actually a hanging basket of flowers that have flourished over the summer at my home. Looking for an excuse to practice capturing flowers, I found these reminiscent of a waterfall- a waterfall made of flowers.

Location
I actually took this photo is my backyard at the time! I was living with the in-laws for a times and she always had such beautiful flowers- I just had to photograph them.Time
This was taken mid afternoon.Lighting
I find natural lighting (the sun) can be a bit overwhelming, especially at mid day. It sucks the color out of the shot and it it’s harder to bring that color back later. This was shot under the cover of trees, a little after the sun was at its peak for the day.Equipment
I have a canon rebel T5. The lens was a long range lens, a 75-300 mm. No tripod or flash, just natural lighting and a steady hand.Inspiration
I was practicing nature photography and these flowers cascading out of their basket caught my eye. They weren’t what I was out there for as they were bought and intentionally placed in the backyard, but their beauty with the pockets of sunlight in the background couldn’t be ignored.Editing
I do a little post processing in Adobe Lightroom, but it is only to bring out the correct colors as cameras tend to tone them down.In my camera bag
I keep my long range lens, a normal everyday lens, a cleaner for them, and a small tripod for when I need it.Feedback
To capture a similar look to this piece I can offer a few tips. Shy away from the sun directly overhead, and if you must take pictures at that time of day, find shade so the camera/view isn’t directly in the sunlight. Always look at the scene with a 2/3rds view. When you find a subject, it is usually more appealing in a frame if it isn’t directly centered. If I am not using a tripod, I tend to rest my elbows in an effort to minimize the hands natural shaking, or I find a hard, flat spot at an ideal height to place the camera when taking a picture.
