They are cute, little creatures and hardly are shying away from camera. Infact, if I count the minutes, this cutie sat in the same position for more than half an hour. One can easily set himself up for best position and get those eye details. This pic was shot in a single attempt and that too handheld.

Location
This photo was captured in a public park nearby my house in Noida, India. I went to recce that park for my upcoming photography workshop.Time
During my favorite time for clicking macro subjects i.e. early morning, as during that time, insects and other macro subjects are generally idle unless they receive sunlight and start moving.Lighting
As this damselfly was well inside a bush, not much ambient light was available. I used off camera flash with diffuser to illuminate the subject and its location inside bush gave me an advantage of dark background, thus isolating the subject perfectly from the background.Equipment
This was a handheld shot clicked with Nikon D5200, Tamron 90mm VC lens for Nikon and an off camera flash with diffuse.Inspiration
Macro shot of a damselfly from front was always on my wish-list as the compound eyes of these small creatures have always fascinated me.Editing
I am glad that for this shot, I need not to do any post processing apart from some cropping. In my camera bag
Apart from the camera body (Nikon D5200 and its 2 batteries, 2 memory cards), I normally keep a Tamron 90mm VC lens and off camera flash for macro, a Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens for bird photography and a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens for portraits.Feedback
For macro shots of insects and for bird photography, the mantra is simple: Patience and observation. As a nature photographer, we should give importance to study of behavior of the insects and birds. Once we know about their behavior around us, we may predict their move in better way.
