Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken from the edge of the pond in front of the main temple, a great spot to get that sunrise shot of the Angkor Wat Temple

Time

As far as I remember, this photo was taken at around 5.30am, but to get an unobstructed photo, you have to be in the place no later than 4.30am.

Lighting

As the surrounding was still dark, pointing at the direction of the sunrise gives a better focused shot.

Equipment

Tripod is a must used in this photo, I used my 6D Canon with 16-35mm lens, no flash.

Inspiration

After seeing so many beautiful sunrise photos of the majestic Angkor Wat, it has given me an inspiration and desire to have my own photo of the Angkor Wat sunrise.

Editing

Using the Lightroom, from the RAW image, I adjusted the shadows, contrast and highlights to give the photo more life.

In my camera bag

I usually have my 6D Canon with 24-70mm, 16-35mm and my 100mm lenses. And then tripod if I know I will need it.

Feedback

As the Angkor Wat is hugely popular, be at the location at least 2 hours earlier than the rest, find an unobstructed area, place the tripod in a steady area, be patient, keep shooting until you get that perfect photo.
