Imagine my excitement when these three majestic creatures walked into the pool of light shining on this waterhole. I was sitting with my camera just above water-level and only two or three metres from their feet. Looking up from my viewfinder to be confronted by their massive bodies is a memory that I will treasure forever.
The rhinos have had their horns removed to make them less attractive to poachers; unfortunately this isn't enough to keep them safe, as even the stumps are worth a lot of money in China and Vietnam, where their horns are considered to have medicinal properties even though they are made of keratin, the same as our fingernails.
