Location
This was taken at the Seattle Sculpture Part in the The Neukom Vivarium exhibit. It's a hybrid work of sculpture, architecture, environmental education, and horticulture.Time
It was about 1:30pm and clear that day. The skylight windows in the exhibit were cracked open allowing spots of natural light. Your mind eyes want to compensate for the color change which in itself was a strange experience.Lighting
Nothing that I had direct control over other then the placement of the model. Her natural green eyes picked up on the tint in the windows and made them glow a little. I'm not sure you would get the same effect with brown eyes, but it would be worthwhile to experiment.Equipment
Canon 5DII, EF 24-105 f/4 ISInspiration
Simply the combination of light and model.Editing
Just getting her to stand in a position where the natural light crossed over her eyes.In my camera bag
Canon 5Dii, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 IS, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 non/IS, Sigma 85 f/1.4, and a 18% gray card.Feedback
Take the time to scan the light of the environment you are within and don't be afraid to experiment. Move your subject forward and back, left and right and pay attention how the light falls on the subject. And bring a gray card with you because your eyes will fool you.
