She's about ten weeks old now, and has lived in our home since being orphaned at five weeks. Our rabbit isn't amused, but I think the kitten will calm down into a decent cat as she grows up.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on a chair in our kitchen, on one of the few times my model could sit still!

Time

I believe this was late morning.

Lighting

I don't have a good flash unit (the cheap one was, well, cheap!), so this was taken with just the light from the windows on a partly cloudy day.

Equipment

I use a Canon T3i, and I believe this was playing around with a new Canon 85mm fixed lense, learning to get the field of view I wanted.

Inspiration

I had just gotten this lens, and had a party coming up I was going to shoot. I spent a coupleasure hours that day messing around with the lens, trying to get a feel for it. The kitten was actually still for a bit, and I like her markings, so she became my test subject. Much easier to convince than my daughter!

Editing

While I very recently got Lightroom, I haven't learned to do much with it yet, so this one just got a slight bit of cropping.

In my camera bag

Canon T3i, with two kit lenses (18-55 and 55-250 zoom), a Canon 50mm 1:1.8, and a Canon 85mm 1:1.8, hauled around in a Tamrac Velocity7 sling bag. I have a cheap tripod and monopod as well. I hope to add a camera upgrade to the mix soon.

Feedback

Keep your camera with you! Mine even comes with me on ambulance runs, in case I'm sitting somewhere for a while. I'm learning to watch people and animal's eyes, and follow them when shooting. Take a break when shooting people, and experience the moment; when you pick up your camera again, you'll remember why it was important.
