This tumbling mountain stream at 1300 metres in the Kahurangi uplands has been on my mind for a while. It lines up nicely with the core of the Milky Way galaxy sinking low over the western horizon.
I've been seeing it as a scene of thick snowpack and half frozen waterfall, however this is a very unusually snow free winter. Happy to leave that as a goal for a normal winter... so stoked I was able to get this fiery airglow night scene showing the garden-like alpine landscape of the National Park!
Nikon seize the night!
Sky is simple single exposure ISO6400, ƒ2.8, 10 seconds... no stacking. True composition, contemporaneous exposure blend.
