Location
The photo was taken at a little arts and specialty toy shop called "RONAC Art Center". This staircase is the main highlight of the exterior and it leads to a quirky bed mattress museum located on the 3rd floor.Time
We arranged the shoot around midday so that there would be enough sun but not too harsh. It was probably shot around 10-ish in the morning.Lighting
The sunlight was not too strong and it just seeps through the ceiling of the staircase which provided an ample natural light for this shoot.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon rebel T3, kit lens 18-55 mm.Inspiration
When you pass by this building, the spiral staircase would really catch your attention and I thought I would love to have a shoot there. When you climb up at the top and look down, you have this beautiful swirl and by placing the model on the steps would be a good way of breaking the pattern.Editing
I shot raw most of the time during this shoot. Although there was sunlight, it was a cloud day and light doesn't come through consistently. Post-processing just involved tweaking the key elements like adding more contrast, vibrancy, warmth and sharpness.In my camera bag
As a portrait photographer I always rely on my nifty fifty - Canon 50mm Ef f.18. However, for this shot I had to use a wider lens and chose my 18-55 mm kit lens. Aside from my Canon Rebel body - I've had it for almost 5 yrs already, I also bring an external flash and a reflector.Feedback
Find a place with unique patterns - be it from nature or from an architecture and break it by adding another subject - a subject that will surely stand out but compliments the pattern behind it.
