Location
I was in "Berchtesgadener Land" / Bavaria /Germany for a hiking tour . It was a warm day in july and the mountains and the valleys are beautiful there . You find from time to time farms high up in the mountains . In some farm houses you can eat fresh bread , a very tasty soup or just apple-juice made from the apple-trees near-by. Every farm has cows , every cow has a bell - so the farmer are able to find a cow , which are "lost" or hurt in a valley or between rocks . You can see this bell at the photo . The bells are hanging over the neck with a leather strap . Elevation was about 5000 ft / 1500 m .Time
It was about early afternoon .Lighting
The white clouds and the grey mountains gave a wonderful and natural contrast to the flowers in front.Equipment
Fujifilm XT-1 with a 18-135mm zoom . Took the photo just "free-hand".Inspiration
I came down from a mountain peak . Without seeing the cows I could hear their bells from far away. First a tone of one or two bells , step by step in their direction it sounds like an orchestra , as I came closer . After passing a small hill I saw the flock of cows : about 20 of them. The hiking path went just through them . All were grazed on at the mountain-side of the path , only one cow were laying down in the grass very close to a slope . All other cow just raised her heads for a second to scan me , but "she" at the slope-side , looked all the time right into my eyes . I spoke calm and gentle to her and she just stayed and looked into the cam . After a minute or so , I heard a noise behind me and as I turned around , I saw an other cow standing just behind me : she raised down her head and hit her fore hoof to the ground. I decided to go asap. ...Was this a trap...?Editing
I played a bit with light and I cut the edges of the origin shot.In my camera bag
