The beautiful Cecil Brewer staircase on Tottenham Court Road has just turned 100 years old. The spiral inside Heal's Department Store was designed by Ambrose Heal's cousin Cecil Brewer, and was intended as a majestic ascent to the Mansard Gallery when it opened in 1917. This look-up was captured at the very bottom of the staircase, looking upwards towards the dozens of hanging pendant lights suspended from the ceiling.

The image is a blend of eight exposures, combined in Photoshop using luminosity masks.

Captivating !
The spiral pattern and its gradients create an undeniable sense of height, while the hovering sparkle of lights mesmerize the eye with their careless freedom.
Outstanding work !

So often you can view spiral staircases on VB but none have included lighting fixtures. Bravo. Just awesome!
