There is a pair of Black Kites (Milvus migrans) breeding around my house in Alice Springs, Central Australia. They are a very common widely distributed Raptor, but it is quite amazing to be living under their breeding activity. This pair tried to breed last year, but failed. This time they were highly successful and have produced three chicks. The two older chicks are fledged, while the younger third chick is still in the nest (but will very soon be out). The mother fed the two fledglings while they were still chicks in the nest, but now they are fledged, the father seems to be looking after them. They are able to tear meat and eat by themselves, but the father doesn't seem to realise they can and he insists on tearing and feeding them little bits. It is quite funny actually.
